All Kinds of Awesome

All Kinds of Awesome

Last week’s incident with Troy Newman left many of us feeling ashamed to be Australian, but my faith in this nation was restored yesterday at the 7th annual March for the Babies here in Melbourne. We gathered at Parliament House and sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace; we were there for life and to proclaim the Good News.

We also heard some good news: Victorian MP Rachel Carling-Jenkins is planning to introduce the Infant Viability Act which will ban abortions after 20 weeks.  Her office is planning a coordinated campaign, which will involve many pro-life and Christian groups around the state. To keep up to date with progress on the bill, please like the Infant Viability Act facebook page.

MP Bernie Finn did a wonderful job organising the March and rally as usual, and we heard from Anna von Marburg, who has been involved in a serious battle against the forces of evil in Albury. Fr. Francis Denton led us in prayer.

The police were well-organised again this year, but had little to do, since the obnoxious rent-a-crowd, with whom we’re all familiar, were required in another part of the state.

If you haven’t ever made it to the March, I hope you’ll think about joining us next year. Any effort you make will be repaid in fellowship and in the real love found with your pro-life brothers and sisters.

I spent the day with some of the most wonderful people around:

With mothers, fathers, babies, children

With teachers, preachers, healers, priests

With speakers, seekers and filmmakers

With generals, officers and footsoldiers

With travellers and politicians

With post-abortive parents and those who counsel them

With advocates for life and refugees from the culture of death.

This is the Australian pro-life movement, and they’re all kinds of awesome.

This is one pro-life dad!

A summary of the Victorian abortion reform act - worse abortion laws than Russia!

Parliament House - scene of the passing of Victoria’s devastating abortion laws.

Some of the most dedicated people are found behind the camera.

It was impossible to see everyone I knew there - estimates are in the order of 4-5000 in the crowd - but it was great to catch up with Anna and Roland, Brendan, Andrew, Joanne, Jeremy, Rissa, Bill, Emily, Daniel and Marja, Ewan, Peter, Denise, Lois, Daniel G, Nancy, Michelle, Anne-Maree, Kate, Vince, John and Sam, Mary-Lou, Conan, Sam, Sonja, and my boys - Josh, Elijah and Lucien.

Best wishes to you all; I feel so grateful to know you.
